Practical life exercises are the starting point of a Montessori nursery. These exercises link the home and nursery. The child’s life skills are improved as the exercises are real activities which help a child to prepare for future learning. These exercises involve the hand and mind together developing greater concentration, independence and dexterity.

Practical life exercises also concentrate on social awareness, grace and courtesy and care of the environment. Learning to greet people, using please, thank you, shaking hands, excuse me and helping people are some of the typical activities introduced to your child.
