It is in this area of a Montessori Classroom that the child will immerse themselves in Geography, History, Science, Nature, Botany, Art, Music and Movement.

In the Geography section we look at the solar system, continents and oceans, exploring these areas through a wide range of materials of which include a scale model of the solar system, globes, wonderful jigsaw puzzles of the continents.

Through our History materials we introduce the concept of time, we work through the calendar, days, weeks, months and seasons and time lines: the child's own and the world's.

Science is an area where the children are encouraged to carry out their own experiments, exploring area such as sinking and floating, magnets, light, air even making their own volcanoes.

In addition to the life cycles, puzzles, books and animals we have a very popular nature table that is changed and updated regularly. Children enjoy contributing to this area by bringing things into the nursery that they themselves have found out and about, for example baby blackbird shells, frog spawn, a first daffodil and other delights that they have experienced and would like to share with their friends.

Art, music and movement, is a wonderful time for children to explore and develope their creative side. In addition to the many activities that are avaliable to the children daily during their work time, we have a residential artist who explores and introduces different methods of art and scultpure.
